As a one-stop contact center for inquiries on academia-industry cooperation, THE TOKYO UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE (TUS) TECHNOLOGY LICENSING ORGANIZATION has carried out the third mission of TUS: dissemination of its accumulated knowledge to society.
With the aim of creating, protecting, managing and utilizing TUS’s intellectual property rights, we constructed a so-called intellectual property management system, and have been gradually achieving these goals. More than 10 years have passed since academia-industry cooperation became a national policy goal of Japan. This has spawned wide discussion of various specific issues, including the form that future cooperation should take and the role of this cooperation in university activities.
TUS Technology Licensing Organization has adopted a new “FIVE-YEAR WORK PLAN” starting in 2010 that defines its action policy and goals. It is now taking concrete action to carry out this policy. One of these goals is the further “INTERNATIONALIZATION OF ACADEMIC-INDUSTRIAL COOPERATION”. That is, we wish to nurture valuable research seeds owned by TUS not just in the U.S. and Europe, but also in Asia. Another goal is to nurture not only TUS’ own seeds but also those of other universities and research institutes across the nation, putting together and promoting groups of research seeds that meet specific needs of the industrial world.
We will be happy if our academia-industry cooperative activities enable you to utilize the excellent pioneering technology seeds of TUS as a source of industrial innovation, crossing over national borders. We would like to request that interested companies and related institutions from various fields assist in these activities. Your increased support will be greatly appreciated.
